Coat of Arms of Pope Benedict XVI
July 17, 2008
I’ve always enjoyed understanding the symbology and appreciating the craftsmanship that goes into family crests and coat of arms. It’s not something most people would have a favorite of. Well, I think I do. Pope Benedict’s coat of arms is beautiful.
Not being an expert on heraldry myself, all I would really be able to comment on is the aesthetic appeal. So, instead of embarrassing myself, I figured I would send you to EWTN’s very succinct article on the meaning behind the imagery and symbols used in his Holiness’s coat-of-arms.
You can also check out Zenit’s and/or the Vatican’s articles for even more information.
